I impersonate Alax Cox at FOSS

posted 2005.12.05 Mon
One of the nice things about conferences is the oppurtunity to meet new people.  It was nice to be able to mingle with Alan Cox for a little bit while fighting for Pizza at FOSS.  Talking with Seemant was cool too.  Props to those community volunteers such as Seemant who dedicate a large portion of their time without financial renumeration.

I need to comment on one funny thing that happened on the last day of the conference.  I was helping out in our booth, when an employee from a neighboring booth asked me for help.  This company was quizzing participants of FOSS and giving away copies of "The Mythical Man Month" to high scorers.  They had Alan Cox signing and giving out the books (no, Alan did not write that book).  Apparently Alan had to take off and they still had a book to deliver so they asked me if I could stand in Alan's place.  I also got to autograph my name (right below Alan's), and there's a picture of me on someone's camera delivering a copy of the book to a high scorer.  I guess I should start working on kernel development....
